Responsibilities Overview
As a Long Haul Truck Driver with NORTHEAST HAULERS INC., you will be responsible for operating straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials across various routes. Your duties will include planning and adjusting routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment and GPS navigation to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Operational Responsibilities
Your daily responsibilities will involve operating and driving trucks efficiently and safely, ensuring timely delivery of cargo to designated destinations. You will be responsible for loading and unloading goods when required, as well as tarping cargo to ensure safety and security during transit. Proper handling of all materials is essential to maintain the integrity of our clients’ products throughout the transportation process.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
You will perform comprehensive pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. This includes overseeing the condition of tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other essential equipment. You will be prepared to perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs when necessary, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining our commitment to on-time deliveries.
Documentation and Record Keeping
Accurate documentation is a critical aspect of this role. You will be responsible for completing and maintaining various reports including accident or incident reports, bills of lading, dangerous goods occurrence reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports. These records ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide valuable information for continuous improvement of our operations.
Customer Service Excellence
Professionalism in customer service is expected at all times. You will serve as the face of NORTHEAST HAULERS INC. to our clients, providing courteous and efficient service. This includes obtaining special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, as well as communicating effectively with clients and dispatch personnel to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the appropriate licensing and endorsements required for commercial trucking in Canada. This includes an AZ class license, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, and a valid Driver’s License (Class 1 or A). These credentials demonstrate your qualification to operate commercial vehicles safely and legally in various jurisdictions.
