We are currently seeking motivated Kitchen Helpers to join our team at Nightingale Restaurant. Work Schedule

Kitchen Helpers at Nightingale Restaurant work on a flexible schedule that may include morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts. The exact schedule will be determined based on operational needs and employee availability. Overtime is required and available, providing additional earning potential for team members willing to work extra hours.

Required Experience

While formal education is not specified for this position, candidates should have experience working with kitchen equipment including conventional ovens, deep fryers, food dispensers, and grills. Key Responsibilities

As a Kitchen Helper at Nightingale Restaurant, you will play a vital role in our daily operations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen, supporting our culinary team in food preparation, and ensuring efficient service to our customers.

Dishwashing and Sanitation

Your duties will involve operating commercial dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware, as well as sanitizing and washing items by hand when necessary. You’ll also clean and sanitize various kitchen equipment including dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units, ensuring all items meet health and safety standards.

Food Preparation Support

You will assist our chefs in preparing, heating, and finishing simple food items, as well as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits. Your responsibilities also include portioning and wrapping foods, packaging take-out orders, and using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.

Kitchen Maintenance

Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment is essential. You’ll be responsible for sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors, as well as cleaning and sanitizing kitchen work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, and appliances. Additional duties include removing kitchen garbage and trash and ensuring proper waste disposal.

Customer Service

In addition to kitchen duties, you may occasionally serve customers at counters or buffet tables, take customer orders, and replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas. This provides an opportunity to develop customer service skills while working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Inventory and Storage

You will be responsible for receiving, unpacking, and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas. This includes stocking refrigerators and salad bars, as well as managing inventory to ensure adequate supplies are always available.
