Responsibilities
Core Insulation Duties:
As an Insulator with H & H Insulation, your primary responsibilities will include selecting the appropriate type of insulation materials for each project based on building codes, energy efficiency requirements, and budget constraints. You’ll be applying and securing insulation using various methods including spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, and taping to ensure proper installation and maximum effectiveness.
Technical Installation:
You will be responsible for fitting insulation precisely around obstructions such as pipes, ducts, and electrical components, as well as between joists and studs to maintain thermal efficiency throughout the building structure. This requires attention to detail and the ability to work in tight spaces while maintaining quality standards.
Specialized Materials:
The position includes installing vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials to ensure buildings meet safety standards and energy efficiency requirements. You’ll need to understand the properties and installation techniques for various specialized materials used in modern construction.
Hazardous Material Handling:
A critical aspect of this role involves safely removing hazardous materials including asbestos, ceramic fibres, lead, mould, and urea-formaldehyde insulation from buildings. This requires specialized training and strict adherence to safety protocols to protect yourself and building occupants from exposure risks.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
While specific educational requirements may vary, candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent will be given preference. Completion of a recognized insulation apprenticeship program or technical certificate in construction trades would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Previous experience as an insulator or in related construction trades is preferred but not required for all positions. We offer comprehensive training programs for motivated candidates who demonstrate the aptitude to learn the necessary skills. Experience with hazardous material handling and removal is highly valued.
Physical Requirements:
This is a physically demanding role that requires good physical condition, the ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces. You should be comfortable with manual labor and able to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of construction principles, building codes, and safety standards is required. Familiarity with various insulation materials and installation techniques is beneficial. Experience with power tools and construction equipment is necessary.
Benefits and Compensation
Competitive Wage:
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $34.70, which is above industry standards for the region. This rate reflects the value we place on skilled tradespeople and their contribution to our projects and clients’ satisfaction.
Health and Safety:
Your well-being is our priority. We provide comprehensive personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain strict safety protocols on all job sites. Regular safety training ensures that our team remains protected while performing their duties.
Professional Development:
We invest in our employees’ growth through ongoing training opportunities, including specialized courses in hazardous material handling, new insulation technologies, and safety certifications. This helps you build valuable credentials and advance your career.
