We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Clerk to join our team at our Ottawa location. This is a full-time, term or contract position offering competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. Key Responsibilities
As our Finance Clerk, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. Your responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries, and managing both accounts receivable and accounts payable. You will be responsible for preparing trial balances and ensuring that our books are properly opened and closed for auditors.
Financial Management
You will perform essential financial tasks including bank reconciliations, monitoring deposit and withdrawal patterns, identifying potential overdraws, defaults, or dishonoured payments, and analyzing spending patterns to provide insights for financial decision-making. Additionally, you will prepare payroll, invoice clients, collect payments from debtors, and assess fixed assets and depreciation.
Reporting and Analysis
The Finance Clerk will be responsible for preparing comprehensive financial statements and reports, performing financial calculations such as costing and budgeting, and preparing income tax documentation. You will also handle foreign currency exchange transactions, store and update financial data in our systems, and perform internal audit functions as needed.
Administrative Duties
In addition to financial responsibilities, you will perform various clerical duties including maintaining filing and record systems, organizing and maintaining inventory, performing general office duties, and addressing customer complaints or concerns related to financial matters. You will also be responsible for managing cash flow and ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
Required Qualifications
Experience with Accounting Software:
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, ACCPAC, QuickBooks, and other accounting software systems is essential. You should have hands-on experience with these systems and be able to navigate them efficiently.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in presentation software, spreadsheet applications (MS Excel), database management (MS Access), word processing (MS Word), and presentation software (MS PowerPoint). You should also be comfortable using MS Windows and internet applications.
Inventory Management:
Experience with inventory control software is required. You should be able to organize, track, and maintain inventory records accurately and efficiently.
