Position Overview
We are seeking qualified Early Childhood Educators to join our Surrey location. This is an on-site position working with young children to support their developmental needs through structured programming and play-based learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development principles and be dedicated to creating positive learning experiences for children.
Compensation and Schedule
This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $24.00 CAD, with a work schedule of 35 to 40 hours per week. The schedule includes morning, day, and weekend shifts, providing flexibility while ensuring comprehensive coverage for our programs. Responsibilities
As an Early Childhood Educator at Academics preKindergarten, you will play a crucial role in supporting children’s development through various responsibilities. Your primary focus will be on creating and implementing programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Developmental Assessment
You will be responsible for assessing each child’s developmental needs and creating personalized learning plans tailored to their individual requirements. This involves observing children’s behaviors, tracking their progress, and adapting activities to support their growth across all developmental domains.
Program Development
Developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children is a core responsibility. You will design age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Communication with Parents
Effectively communicating with parents about their children’s development and overall situation is essential. You will synthesize information about each child’s progress, challenges, and achievements, sharing this with parents through regular updates and meetings.
Storytelling and Activities
Leading engaging activities through storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest will be a key part of your role. You will also engage children in creative activities like preparing crafts, helping them develop fine motor skills and artistic expression.
Life Skills Development
Guiding and assisting children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits is an important aspect of early childhood education. You will help children build independence in these essential life skills while providing appropriate support and encouragement.
Observation and Reporting
Observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors is a critical responsibility. Early identification of developmental concerns allows for timely intervention and support.
Collaboration
Attending staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and challenges, as well as establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, will ensure a comprehensive support network for each child.
Environment Planning
Planning and maintaining an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children is fundamental. You will create a safe, stimulating, and organized space that supports children’s learning and development.
Before and After School Care

Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate from a recognized institution. This qualification ensures that you have the foundational knowledge and skills required to support early childhood development effectively.
