Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Automatic Welding Machine Operators to join our production team in St. Catharines, Ontario. This permanent, full-time position offers competitive compensation at $36.00 per hour plus an attractive benefits package. Schedule and Working Hours
This is a permanent, full-time position with flexible scheduling options including early morning, day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. The standard work week consists of 30 to 40 hours, with overtime opportunities available. Key Responsibilities
As an Automatic Welding Machine Operator at Steelcon, you will be responsible for:
- Interpreting welding process specifications and technical drawings
- Operating manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding equipment
- Reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, and manuals
- Examining welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
- Operating manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Utilizing Computer-aided design (CAD) knowledge for precision work
- Operating brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines
- Fitting, brazing, and torch-straightening metal components
- Operating oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC)
- Determining weldability of various materials
- Operating hoisting and lifting equipment safely
- Operating previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
- Operating previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams
- Starting up, shutting down, adjusting, and monitoring robotic welding production lines
- Maintaining and performing minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Proven experience working with steel, iron, and heavy metals
- Extensive experience with Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
- Proficiency in operating arc welding machines and gas welding machines
- Experience in custom fabrication and structural construction
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance skills
- Knowledge of metal properties and welding techniques
