The Vendor Management Officer in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry is responsible for overseeing and managing the relationships with vendors and suppliers. This role is crucial for ensuring that the procurement of goods and services is efficient, cost-effective, and aligns with the company’s standards and requirements.
Principal Accountabilities:
Develop and implement vendor management policies and procedures.
Identify and assess potential vendors and suppliers, ensuring they meet the company’s standards for quality, cost, and
reliability.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, aiming for favorable terms and conditions.
Manage and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and performance metrics.
Coordinate with various departments to understand their vendor and procurement needs
Address and resolve any issues or disputes that arise with vendors.
Maintain up-to-date records of contracts, agreements, and vendor performance evaluations.
Conduct regular reviews of vendor contracts and performance, seeking opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Foster strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in all vendor interactions
Job Knowledge and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in vendor management, procurement, or a related field, preferably in the oil and gas
industry.
Proven track record of successfully managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
Knowledge of the oil and gas industry’s supply chain and procurement processes in Nigeria.
Competencies
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with vendors and internal teams.
Proficient in procurement and vendor management software systems.
Analytical skills to assess vendor performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
