We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious young Reporter/Editor to join our fast-growing digital news platform based in Lagos. The ideal candidate must have a passion for news writing, strong editorial judgment, and be highly IT-savvy, with the ability to manage content across digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, write, and edit original news content for publication.
Conduct interviews, cover live events, and generate story ideas.
Curate and manage content across social media platforms.
Edit submissions and ensure factual accuracy, clarity, and engagement.
Work with the tech and design team to optimize stories for SEO and readability.
Upload and format stories on the blog using content management systems (CMS).
Monitor news trends and stay updated with local and global developments.
Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor\'s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or related fields.
1–3 years’ experience in journalism, blogging, or online media (fresh graduates with strong portfolios may apply).
Excellent writing, proofreading, and editorial skills.
Strong understanding of digital journalism and multimedia storytelling.
Proficiency in IT and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Familiarity with SEO, basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva), and social media analytics.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Creative, resourceful, and passionate about news and storytelling.
Preferred Skills:
Video editing or basic photography skills.
Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite).
Knowledge of local and national news landscape in Nigeria.
