Job Overview and Duties
Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.
Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.
Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.
Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or finger-sticks.
Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
Sample collection and analyzing
Maintain Blood bank and chemical inventories
Maintain Laboratory equipment. Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment
Comply with all laboratory policies and HEFFEMA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control
Label, sort and check specimens and organize all information into the system
Maintenance of accurate records and reporting of data
Collection and Interpretation of Data
Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.
Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.
Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.
Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.
Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
Perform all other laboratory duties as assigned.
Requirements
MLA / MLS / MLT qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience as a lab technician.
Current Practicing license with MLSCN
Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft office suits
Experience in Health sector as a Phlebotomist
Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
