LAPO Microfinance Bank is a pro-poor financial institution committed to the social and economic empowerment of low-income households through provision of access to responsive financial services on a sustainable basis. The Institution was established in the late 1980s as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) by Godwin Ehigiamusoe in response to the effects of the implementation of the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) in 1986.
In 2010, LAPO MfB obtained the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to operate as a state microfinance bank and in 2012, it got an approval as a national microfinance bank. Over the years, LAPO MfB has emerged as a leading institution delivering a range of financial services to over a million people in Nigeria.

The People Management Officer is a key member of the People & Culture team, responsible for fostering a positive and engaging work environment at LAPO Microfinance Bank. This role focuses on implementing programs and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, communication, and overall work experience. The Officer will play a vital role in building a strong organizational culture and ensuring employee satisfaction.
Job Details
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Engagement: Develop and implement various employee engagement programs and initiatives to enhance motivation and morale. This includes organizing team-building activities, recognizing employee achievements, and promoting a positive and inclusive work culture.
Employee Surveys: Conduct employee surveys to gather feedback on various aspects of the work environment and identify areas for improvement. Analyze survey results and provide recommendations for action.
Recognition Programs: Design, develop, and implement employee recognition programs to acknowledge and reward outstanding performance and contributions.
Team Building Activities: Plan and execute team-building activities and events to foster camaraderie, collaboration, and communication among employees.
Communication: Effectively communicate HR updates, policies, and other important information to employees through various channels, ensuring transparency and clarity.
Culture Building: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive and inclusive work culture that aligns with LAPO Microfinance Bank's values.
Motivation and Engagement: Create a motivating work environment by implementing strategies that foster employee engagement, satisfaction, and a sense of belonging.
Exit Management: Conduct exit interviews with departing employees to gather feedback on their experience and identify areas for improvement. Ensure a smooth and professional exit process, including the issuance of discharge certificates.
Internal Correspondence Management: Manage internal correspondence related to employee matters, ensuring timely and accurate communication. This includes handling People & Culture-related letters, memos, and other documents.
Other duties as assigned by the Lead, People & Performance Management.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience in HR, with a focus on employee engagement and culture.
