The People & Culture Department of Lily Hospitals Ltd is seeking applications from prospective employees for the post of Lead Nurse – Executive Unit
The Lead Nurse in critical care is responsible for providing intensive care to patients who are critically ill or injured.
These patients require continuous monitoring and treatment in a highly specialized setting, while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of care
Responsibilities
Clinical & Medical Care:
Deliver and oversee high-quality patient care, including admission assessments, care planning, emergency procedures, and the use of medical devices and life-support systems.
Ensure compliance with patient safety, privacy, and nursing standards, while guiding staff nurses in executing care plans using approved nursing processes.
Leadership & Supervision:
Lead, supervise, and support nursing staff to ensure consistent, quality care.
Assign duties, manage schedules and rotations, conduct performance evaluations, and set SMART KPIs.
Recruit, orient, train, and develop nursing staff, fostering continuous professional growth.
Administrative & Operational Management:
Ensure adequate stock levels, functional equipment, and well-maintained wards.
Oversee daily equipment checks and ensure smooth unit operations aligned with hospital objectives and protocols.
Patient & Family Support:
Prepare patients for consultations, procedures, and surgeries; administer medications as prescribed.
Collaborate with physicians on treatment plans, explain procedures and results, and provide emotional support to patients and families.
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment.
Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards, including ISO, COHSASA, Kaizen, and Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR 2019).
Essential Qualifications & Skills
Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Registered Midwife (RM) with a valid practising license from NMCN.
Bachelor's degree (B.NSc) is an added advantage.
Minimum of three to five years of clinical experience
Must possess a BLS and ACLS training certificate
Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act
Strong proficiency in simulation-based learning, clinical assessments, and student mentorship.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Package.
