The Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems in heavy-duty machinery and equipment.
The role requires strong expertise in electrical troubleshooting, wiring systems, electronic control units, and diagnostic tools to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Diagnostics and Repairs:
Diagnose faults in electrical and electronic systems of heavy machinery.
Repair or replace faulty wiring, sensors, relays, alternators, starters, and control modules.
Conduct electrical system testing using diagnostic tools and multimeters.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems of heavy equipment.
Ensure all electrical components are functioning according to manufacturer specifications.
Installation and System Upgrades:
Install electrical components, lighting systems, control panels, and safety devices.
Support the integration of new electrical systems and upgrades in machinery.
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve issues related to ECU systems, electrical circuits, batteries, and charging systems.
Interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
Field Service Support:
Provide on-site electrical repair and troubleshooting support for customer equipment when required.
Respond to urgent breakdown calls and restore equipment functionality.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain service records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts replaced.
Submit accurate service reports to the service supervisor.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all company safety policies and electrical safety procedures.
Ensure proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Technical Certification in Auto Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
Relevant professional certification in heavy equipment electrical systems is an advantage.
Experience:
5–7 years of experience as an Auto Electrician, preferably with heavy-duty machinery or construction equipment.
Strong experience with electrical systems in equipment such as excavators, loaders, cranes, generators, or forklifts.
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment electrical systems and diagnostics.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and wiring schematics.
Experience with electronic control units (ECU), sensors, alternators, and battery systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic software and testing equipment.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in diagnostics.
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Working Conditions:
Work may take place in workshops and at customer job sites.
The role may require working in demanding environments and responding to emergency repair requests
