We are seeking an experienced Head of Mechanical to lead the mechanical maintenance function for rotating, static, lifting, and marine equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Manager, you will ensure equipment integrity, optimize maintenance strategies, and provide technical expertise to support offshore operations.
This role is pivotal in driving reliability, safety, and performance excellence.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Maintenance Plan, coordinating with the Methods Department to consolidate efficient maintenance work packages.
Ensure proper assistance of external resources (vendors, contractors, means and equipment) to support offshore mechanical staff and maintain equipment integrity.
Provide technical expertise to address failures and performance losses, monitoring equipment condition and ensuring optimized maintenance.
Administer and ensure contractor competence and performance through audits, competence evaluations, and training initiatives.
Prepare and coordinate major interventions and overhauls in all technical, contractual, and logistic aspects.
Perform duties as Technical Administrator for mechanical spare parts and mechanical material.
Act as Technical Authority for Mechanic and SECE Guardian for designated safety-critical elements.
Revise maintenance plans prepared by contractors and ensure their proper implementation.
Ensure suitable spare-parts availability and coverage through adequate stock management parameters.
Control and ensure accurate data capture in SAP (UNISUP), performing analysis and proposing optimization plans.
Manage equipment support means including documentation, tooling, and software.
Analyze equipment performance, conduct technical studies, and provide technical support on queries.
Ensure operations under own authority comply with Company rules, procedures, specifications, and HSE standards.
Mobilize, coordinate, and arrange logistics for external resources required for mechanical operations.
Contribute to technical administration of contracts and participate in budget preparation and cost control.
Contribute to training and development of national staff, including engineers and technicians.
Act as Maintenance Operations Manager when necessary.
Requirements
Required:
A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer, including 5 years in the petrochemical industry.
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory operational position.
Good knowledge of turbo machinery.
Preferred:
Experience in offshore or oil & gas operations.
Familiarity with SAP (UNISUP) or similar CMMS.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
