Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Upholsterer with strong practical knowledge of engineering and automobile manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing vehicle interior components, including seats, door panels, headliners, and other upholstered parts, while ensuring comfort, durability, precision, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Install and repair upholstery on vehicle seats, door panels, headliners, dashboards, and other interior components.
Measure, cut, sew, and fit fabrics, leather, vinyl, foam, and other upholstery materials.
Interpret basic engineering drawings, measurements, and technical specifications.
Ensure proper alignment, fitting, tension, and finishing of upholstered components.
Work with vehicle frames and interior structures to ensure correct installation of upholstery materials.
Identify and correct defects such as wrinkles, loose fittings, uneven stitching, and poor finishing.
Use sewing machines, cutting tools, staplers, adhesives, and other upholstery equipment safely.
Work closely with Engineers, Technicians, Fabricators, Panel Beaters, and other Production personnel.
Apply practical engineering knowledge when fitting and modifying interior components.
Inspect completed upholstery work to ensure it meets required quality and production standards.
Maintain upholstery tools and equipment in good working condition.
Keep the workstation clean, organized, and safe.
Comply with company HSE procedures and manufacturing standards.
Perform other duties assigned by the Production or Engineering Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of SSCE/WAEC/NECO, NABTEB, Trade Test, or Technical College qualification.
Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience as an Upholsterer, preferably in automobile manufacturing, vehicle bodywork, engineering, or a related industry.
Strong practical knowledge of engineering and automobile manufacturing processes is required.
Good knowledge of vehicle interior components and upholstery techniques.
Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, measurements, and specifications.
Ability to use upholstery tools, sewing machines, cutting equipment, and related workshop tools.
Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong problem-solving and fitting skills.
Physically fit, reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
