The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment, utilities, and production systems within the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role ensures equipment availability, safety, efficiency, and compliance with GMP, SOPs, EHS requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
Maintain and repair pharmaceutical production equipment, including mixers, granulators, tablet presses, capsule machines, coating machines, packing equipment, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
Support the installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment and machinery.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and productivity.
Conduct routine inspection of machines, mechanical systems, pipelines, pumps, valves, bearings, gearboxes, and other components.
Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, work orders, and technical reports.
Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved SOPs, GMP, and safety procedures.
Participate in equipment breakdown analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Assist in developing and reviewing preventive maintenance schedules and checklists.
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional engineering certification or relevant membership is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience, preferably within pharmaceutical, FMCG, manufacturing environments.
Practical experience in industrial equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience working with GMP-regulated manufacturing equipment is highly desirable.
