The Superintendent Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based on Lagos Island, responsible for overseeing the professional, ethical, and legal standards of pharmacy operations.
The role involves supervising dispensing activities, ensuring accurate and safe medication supply, and reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness. The Superintendent Pharmacist will lead and mentor pharmacy teams, coordinate staff training, and implement standard operating procedures that align with regulatory requirements.
Daily tasks include maintaining proper documentation, managing controlled drugs in compliance with laws, liaising with regulatory bodies, and conducting regular audits to ensure quality assurance.
The role also includes providing patient counseling, promoting rational drug use, supporting public health initiatives, and collaborating with management to improve service delivery and pharmacy performance.
Qualifications
Must be a licensed Pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree and current registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
Demonstrated experience in community or retail pharmacy practice, with previous leadership or supervisory responsibilities in a pharmacy setting.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical care, medication safety, and applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and ethical standards in Nigeria.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills, including experience with inventory management, controlled substances handling, and regulatory reporting.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor teams, provide clear patient counseling, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to implement and maintain standard operating procedures, quality assurance processes, and compliance programs in a clinical or retail environment.
Comfort working with pharmacy management systems and basic digital tools to support dispensing, record-keeping, and reporting activities.
