We are seeking an accomplished Group Executive Director, Finance (GED-F) to provide strategic financial leadership across a diversified Holdings Group operating in the steel manufacturing, mining, and energy sectors.
Reporting directly to the Group CEO, the successful candidate will drive the Group's financial strategy, capital allocation, investment decisions, financial governance, and long-term value creation while partnering with the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the Group's financial strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
Advise the GCEO and Board on financial implications of strategic decisions including capital projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, and market expansion.
Lead group budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and performance management.
Oversee treasury, capital structure, liquidity, and financing activities.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, statutory regulations, tax, and corporate governance requirements.
Drive enterprise-wide financial risk management and internal control frameworks.
Lead financial due diligence, valuations, M&A transactions, and investment appraisals.
Manage relationships with banks, investors, development finance institutions, and regulators.
Build and mentor a high-performing Group Finance function while driving finance transformation and digitalization.
Chair or co-chair the Group Risk Committee; report to the Board Audit & Risk Committee on financial risk exposure
Manage relationships with banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and capital markets to secure competitive financing
Oversee post-acquisition financial integration and value-realization tracking.
Evaluate investment proposals from subsidiaries and recommend capital allocation priorities to the Board.
Maintain full compliance with tax obligations, royalties, and statutory requirements across mining, energy, and manufacturing entities.
Chair or co-chair the Group Risk Committee; report to the Board Audit & Risk Committee on financial risk exposure
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related disciplines
MBA or Master's degree is an added advantage.
ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory.
18 – 25 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 8 years at Group CFO, Executive Director Finance, or equivalent executive level.
Proven experience within heavy industries such as Steel Manufacturing, Mining, Energy, Oil & Gas, or Industrial Manufacturing.
Strong experience managing finance within a multi-subsidiary or conglomerate structure.
Demonstrated expertise in corporate finance, treasury, capital markets, project finance, and investment management.
Experience engaging Boards, investors, financial institutions, and regulators.
Exposure to cross-border operations, multi-currency environments, and dealings with DFIs (e.g., AfDB, IFC, Afreximbank) is highly desirable
