As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Library Assistant to support the effective operation of our academic library and learning resource center.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring students, faculty, and staff have access to relevant learning materials and library services that support academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating and accessing library resources.
Catalog, classify, shelve, and maintain books, journals, periodicals, and other educational materials.
Support the management of electronic databases and digital learning resources.
Maintain accurate records of borrowed and returned materials.
Monitor library usage and ensure adherence to library policies and procedures.
Assist with stock-taking, inventory management, and acquisition of library resources.
Maintain an organized, safe, and conducive learning environment within the library.
Support literacy, research, and information services for students and staff.
Prepare periodic reports on library activities and resource utilization.
Assist in implementing initiatives that promote reading, learning, and research.
Qualifications and Experience
HND or Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science or a related discipline.
Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience, preferably within an educational institution.
Knowledge of library management systems and information retrieval tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
