The Mechanical Inspector (Rotating Equipment) performs quality inspections on rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, generators, fans, gearboxes, and associated mechanical systems.
The role ensures that equipment fabrication, installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities meet project specifications and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect rotating equipment during fabrication, installation, overhaul, and commissioning phases.
Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedures.
Conduct inspections on:
Centrifugal and reciprocating pumps
Compressors
Steam and gas turbines
Blowers and fans
Gearboxes
Electric motors and generators
Review inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality control procedures, and work packages.
Witness mechanical tests, alignment checks, balancing activities, and performance testing.
Verify dimensional measurements, tolerances, and clearances.
Monitor shaft alignment and vibration analysis results.
Ensure proper assembly and installation practices are followed.
Inspect bearings, seals, couplings, lubrication systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Identify non-conformities and issue inspection reports.
Participate in root-cause investigations for equipment failures.
Review maintenance records and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards.
