Responsibilities and Duties
As the Automotive Repair and Service Shop Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our service department and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Resolving daily work problems and troubleshooting complex automotive repair issues
2. Providing technical advice and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices
3. Recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality in all repair operations
4. Supervising all shop workers and ongoing repair projects to ensure they are completed on time and to specification
5. Coordinating and scheduling repair activities, maintenance tasks, and customer appointments
6. Conducting or arranging for ongoing training of technical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
7. Estimating costs and materials required for various repair jobs and maintenance services
8. Requisitioning and ordering necessary materials, equipment, and supplies for the shop
9. Establishing efficient methods to meet work schedules and coordinate activities with other departments
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Education:
Completion of Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification is required. Additional certifications in other automotive systems would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Previous experience in automotive repair and service is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership roles within an automotive service environment. Strong knowledge of modern vehicle systems, diagnostic procedures, and repair techniques is expected.
Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong leadership and communication skills, proficiency in diagnostic equipment and automotive software, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Bilingual skills would be an asset but are not required.
