ChiChi Restaurant & Bar is seeking a talented and experienced Cook to join our team in Vanier, Ontario. Compensation Package
We offer a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $28.00 per hour, with room for negotiation based on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 to 45 hours per week. Overtime is available and required as needed, with compensation according to Ontario’s employment standards.
Schedule and Working Hours
The Cook position requires flexibility in scheduling, including early morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts. The position may include on-call duties as determined by management. While the schedule includes regular work hours, there is also the possibility of a variable or compressed work week to accommodate work-life balance.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Cook Trade Certification, which demonstrates formal training in culinary arts. Additionally, candidates must hold both a Safe Food Handling certificate and a Food Safety Certificate to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in our kitchen environment. These certifications are essential for maintaining the high standards of food safety at ChiChi Restaurant & Bar.
Cook Trade Certification
The Cook Trade Certification indicates that the candidate has completed an apprenticeship program or equivalent training in professional cooking. This certification demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen operations.
Food Safety Certificates
Both Safe Food Handling and Food Safety certificates are mandatory requirements. These certifications ensure that our kitchen staff follows proper food handling procedures, prevents foodborne illnesses, and maintains a clean and sanitary work environment according to Ontario’s public health standards.
Culinary Experience Requirements
Our restaurant specializes in African cuisine, and we require candidates with specific experience in preparing authentic African dishes. Key Responsibilities
As a Cook at ChiChi Restaurant & Bar, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes to the highest quality standards. You will need to accommodate customers with food allergies or intolerances by preparing specialized dishes that meet their dietary requirements while maintaining flavor and presentation.
Kitchen Management Duties
The Cook position includes supervisory responsibilities, including training staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and proper handling of food. You will be responsible for ordering supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, and managing kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
Kitchen Maintenance
Keeping the kitchen and work areas clean and organized is a critical responsibility. This includes following sanitation procedures, maintaining cleanliness of cooking equipment, and ensuring that all food preparation areas meet health and safety standards. Regular inspection of kitchens and food service areas will be part of your daily routine.
