Job Overview
We are seeking motivated Construction Helpers to join our team in Brampton. This is a permanent, full-time position offering competitive compensation at $36.00 per hour with a work schedule of 30-40 hours per week. The position requires flexibility, including early morning, morning, day, weekend, and shift work with on-call availability. The position starts as soon as possible and involves on-site work at our Brampton location.

Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Helper at GTA CONCRETE CUTTING & CORING INC., you will play a crucial role in our construction operations. Your responsibilities will include calculating crane capacities to ensure safe lifting operations, loading and transporting construction materials to various job sites, and measuring weights to prepare for proper rigging and hoisting procedures.
Crane Operations
You will be trained to operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position, and place equipment and materials safely. This includes performing pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly, reading blueprints to determine specific work requirements, and maintaining equipment through regular cleaning and lubrication.
Structural Work
Your duties will extend to erecting and dismantling concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades as needed for various construction projects. You may also operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into the earth, providing essential support for buildings and other structures.
Material Handling
You will be responsible for mixing, pouring, and spreading various materials such as concrete and asphalt. Additionally, you’ll learn to operate specialized equipment like gantry cranes for ship cargo loading/unloading at port sides, locomotive cranes for railway yard operations, and bridge/overhead cranes for plant machinery placement.
Site Management
Construction Helpers assist with general site management tasks including directing traffic at or near construction sites, performing routine maintenance work, cleaning up chemical spills and other contaminants, removing rubble and debris, and tending or feeding machines and equipment used in construction.
Specialized Operations
Depending on project requirements, you may have the opportunity to operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments for waterway projects, assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction, help with drilling and blasting rock on construction sites, or operate offshore oil rig cranes for supply vessel operations.
Requirements
While specific educational requirements are not specified, we value candidates who demonstrate mechanical aptitude, physical fitness, and a willingness to learn. Previous construction experience is beneficial but not mandatory as we provide comprehensive on-the-job training for all new team members.
