Job Details
We are seeking dedicated Nursery Labourers to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The position is located at our nursery facility in Mission, BC (postal code V2V 4J1). This is an on-site position offering a competitive hourly wage of $18.00 per hour for a 40-hour work week. The position is available to start as soon as possible, with two vacancies currently available.

Key Responsibilities
As a Nursery Labourer, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks essential to our nursery operations. Your duties will include clearing and collecting brush and debris from fields and work areas, greenhouse cleaning, leveling earth to fine grade specifications, and mixing fertilizer. You’ll operate climate control systems and assist in maintaining optimal growing conditions for our diverse plant inventory.
Plant Care and Maintenance
Your responsibilities will extend to hands-on plant care including weeding, watering and tending to plants, lawns and/or gardens. You’ll assist in pruning trees, shrubs and plants, remove manually all suckers and water sprouts, and tie and secure plants as needed. The position also involves shearing Christmas trees, which requires precision and attention to detail.
Propagation and Transplanting
You will play a crucial role in plant propagation by planting bulbs and seeds, potting and re-potting plants, and transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings. The nursery utilizes vertical farming systems, and you’ll be involved in cultivating plants in these specialized growing environments. Additionally, you’ll assist in grafting activities and dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs for proper handling and sale.
Monitoring and Reporting
Attention to detail is essential as you’ll be responsible for monitoring plant health and reporting signs of insect or disease damage. You’ll need to consider water saturation, light, and temperature when planning for germination. This requires a keen eye for changes in plant condition and the ability to take appropriate action when issues arise.
