Position Details
The welder position is a permanent, full-time role with flexible hours. The position starts as soon as possible and requires on-site work at our Surrey facility. The position offers 40 hours per week with a competitive hourly wage of $37.50. Key Responsibilities
As a welder at A&G Aluminum & Ironworks Ltd., you will be responsible for interpreting welding process specifications and following them precisely to ensure high-quality results. You’ll operate various types of welding equipment including manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated systems. Your attention to detail will be crucial in examining finished welds to confirm they meet all applicable standards and specifications.
Technical Duties
Your responsibilities will include reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes. You’ll be expected to operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment when needed. Additionally, you’ll maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Quality Assurance
Maintaining quality standards is paramount in our operations. You’ll be responsible for examining all welds thoroughly to ensure they meet or exceed industry standards and client specifications. This includes visual inspections, dimensional checks, and potentially using testing equipment to verify the integrity of your work.
Required Experience and Skills
Applicants must have extensive experience working with aluminum alloys, steel, iron, and heavy metals. Proficiency in multiple welding techniques is essential, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
Technical Equipment Knowledge
Candidates should be familiar with operating various welding machines including arc welding, brazing, gas welding, and soldering equipment. Experience with custom fabrication techniques is highly valued, particularly in creating fencing, balconies, stairs, and railings—our specialty products.
Blueprint Reading
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications is crucial for this position. You’ll need to understand welding symbols, dimensions, material specifications, and assembly instructions to accurately execute projects according to design requirements.
