About the Position
We are pleased to offer Specialty Doctor posts in General Adult Psychiatry within the newly configured Haringey CORE Teams. The position involves working in one of three CORE teams: West, Central, or East. Each team is separately staffed with a full Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) including consultant psychiatrists and allied mental health professionals.
The successful candidate will provide clinical medical input to the assigned CORE Team and play an integral role in the performance and development of the service. Key Responsibilities
As a Specialty Doctor, you will be expected to support the consultant in managing an established caseload of patients with Severe Mental Illness (SMI), many of whom require medication management. You will contribute to the assessment of newly referred cases and formulate appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues from various disciplines.
You will work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork. The role requires you to be Section 12(2) approved and have approved clinician status, participating in the Trust-wide Section 12 daytime rota.
Administrative duties include keeping up-to-date records on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ reports, and risk assessments. You will also assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints when requested.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold an MBBS degree or equivalent qualification. You must have either Limited or Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK. Membership of a professional indemnity organization is also essential for this position.
Right to Work in the UK is a mandatory requirement for this role. This can be verified through appropriate documentation during the application process.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
While not required, membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent is considered advantageous. Section 12(2) Approval under the Mental Health Act is also desirable. Candidates with a higher degree in a relevant subject or experience working in a culturally diverse area may be given preference during the selection process.
Leadership and Management
Experience in Clinical Leadership is considered desirable, as is engagement with Service Management. Candidates with Management Training will have an advantage when applying for this position.
