About the Position
The appointee will work specifically with vascular services, which are being translocated to the Luton site from Bedford with the expansion of arterial vascular service. The position involves anaesthetizing for specialist vascular lists and a variety of other elective surgical specialties, with a 1:20 on-call commitment.
Key Responsibilities
The main duties include maintaining the highest clinical standards in patient management, working in vascular theatres and pre-assessment clinics, participating in multi-disciplinary teams, covering emergency surgery and obstetrics on-call, and teaching intermediate grade and junior medical staff.
Qualifications Required
Essential qualifications include a Medical Degree, FRCA or equivalent, ALS/ATLS or European equivalent, and SIA in vascular Anaesthesia or evidence of advanced training. Full GMC registration is mandatory before employment commences, with the GMC Licence to Practice required before starting.
Desirable Qualifications
Additional qualifications that would strengthen your application include an MD or equivalent Higher Degree, experience in preoperative assessment for vascular patients, or accreditation in CPET interpretation.
Registration Requirements
Applicants must have current UK professional registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register is required, with CCT (or within 6 months of receipt of CCT) or CESR certification.
Clinical Experience
Essential experience includes excellent all-round experience of District General Hospital work, thorough training in Anaesthetics and CEPOD list management, and evidence of experience in vascular Anaesthesia. The ability to work independently without direct supervision is crucial.
Desirable Experience
Additional training in vascular anaesthesia beyond that required for CCT, such as a fellowship in vascular anaesthesia, would be advantageous for this specialized position.

Personnel Requirements
Applicants must reside within 10 miles by road or up to thirty minutes travelling time of the hospital for on-call emergencies. The position requires satisfactory Occupational Health clearance and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
Remuneration Package
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, with additional benefits associated with NHS employment. This represents an attractive compensation package for medical professionals relocating to the UK.
Employment Terms
This is a permanent, full-time position within the Hospital medical and dental staff pay scheme. The contract includes standard NHS employment terms and conditions, along with pension benefits and other NHS staff perks.
