Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated cook to join our kitchen team at Wenze Market & Grill. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring food quality and safety standards are consistently met. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive range of kitchen duties including planning menus and estimating food requirements for their realization. You will prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. Your responsibilities will also include preparing dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring their safety and satisfaction.
Specific Kitchen Duties
You will prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef, demonstrating the ability to follow precise dietary requirements. Additionally, you will inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations. Training staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food will be another important aspect of your role, helping to maintain high standards across the team.
Inventory and Equipment Management
Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment is essential for smooth kitchen operations. You will be responsible for monitoring stock levels, placing orders when necessary, and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained. Keeping detailed records will help with cost control and efficient kitchen management.
Kitchen Maintenance
Cleaning kitchen and work areas to maintain hygiene standards is a critical responsibility. You will follow proper sanitation procedures and ensure that all work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas are kept clean and organized. This includes proper waste disposal and following established cleaning schedules.
Staff Management
In addition to cooking responsibilities, you will also be involved in recruiting and hiring staff when needed. This includes posting job advertisements, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations to management. You will play a key role in building and maintaining a strong kitchen team.
Food Preparation
Basic food preparation tasks including washing, peeling and cutting vegetables and fruit will be part of your daily routine. You will also prepare, heat and finish simple food items, ensuring they meet our quality standards before being served to customers. Attention to detail and proper food handling techniques are essential in all preparation work.
Working Environment
Our kitchen is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where teamwork and communication are essential. You will work alongside experienced culinary professionals in a setting that values creativity, quality, and efficiency. Schedule and Hours
This position requires availability during morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts. The standard work week is 35 hours, with overtime opportunities available as needed. Salary and Compensation
We offer a competitive hourly wage of $17.50 for this position. As a full-time employee, you will receive consistent hours and a predictable income.
