Job Overview
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a substantive Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team. This position is based at Sevenacres on the Isle of Wight and involves working predominantly in the community to support multidisciplinary teams delivering assessment and management services to older adults with complex functional illnesses and memory difficulties. The post holder will lead on developing and delivering clinical pathways for older adults with functional mental disorders in collaboration with the Lead Consultant Psychiatrist.

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will promote multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working for the Functional illness pathway for older adults and in the Memory Service. You will provide consultation and support for the Discharge Team (DOT) and Home Treatment Service as needed. Additionally, you will support the development of integrated care pathways for older adults with mental health difficulties and provide statutory clinical reports as requested.
Clinical Leadership
You will work with the lead consultant psychiatrist for Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) in providing clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, in co-operation with the Service Manager. This includes working with other clinical staff to achieve high standards of risk assessment and general psychiatric assessments for all patients presenting to the service.
Service Development
The post holder will support the development of a seamless service and continuity of care which is patient centred and respects social inclusion and cultural diversity. You will provide clinical support and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including complex risk assessments, and undertake Section 12 and Approved Clinician duties related to the Mental Health Act (1983).

Person Specification
Essential qualifications for this position include Full GMC Registration with license to practice, Section 12 Approval, Approved Clinician status, and MRCPsych. These qualifications are necessary to fulfill the statutory requirements of this Consultant role within the NHS.
Client Group
The post holder will manage patients with dementia and lead on developing clinical pathways for older adults with functional mental disorders. The client group may include a small number of patients under the age of 65 years who have Dementia or significant long-term physical illnesses or disabilities.

This is based at Sevenacres, Parkhurst Road, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 5TG. The location offers a unique working environment combining community-based care with access to specialist services.
