Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic paediatric trainee (most suitable for ST5 or ST4+ with at least six months experience at tier 2 level) to develop skills and experience in medical education and educational leadership, with a focus on undergraduate paediatric education at the University of Leeds.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post will be for 3 days a week in the paediatric education role during daytime working, with a full on-call commitment to general paediatrics or a paediatric specialty. Key responsibilities include: assisting in running the undergraduate paediatric course, organizing and delivering lectures and seminars, delivering ward-based clinical teaching, assisting with tutoring, providing pastoral support, and helping with assessment preparation.
Person Specification
Applicants must demonstrate clinical knowledge and judgment, ability to prioritize clinical need, and maximize safety while minimizing risk. They should be able to recognize and manage acutely ill patients, and have valid APLS or equivalent certification. Good communication skills, ability to build rapport, and capacity for logical problem-solving are essential.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification is required. Successful completion of MRCPCH by the time of interview is mandatory. Applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration with a current license to practice at the intended start date. APLS certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent is required.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must have at least 1 year of experience in the UK, plus 2 years overall experience. They must be up to date and fit to practice safely. Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate for effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues are required. Professional integrity, capacity to take responsibility, and initiative are essential.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience working on a middle grade rota is desirable. Completed resuscitation council generic instructor course, experience in teaching or education, and extracurricular activities relevant to clinical education are considered advantageous. These qualities will strengthen your application.

Salary and Contract Details
