Position Overview

We are currently seeking Kitchen Helpers to join our team on a term or contract basis with full-time hours. Job Responsibilities

As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our restaurant. Your responsibilities will include bringing clean dishes, flatware, and other items to serving areas and setting tables. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing various items such as dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units. The role also involves clearing and cleaning tables, trays, and chairs to ensure a pleasant dining environment for our customers.

Dishwashing and Sanitation

A key aspect of this position is maintaining proper hygiene standards in the kitchen. You will operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware efficiently. Additionally, you will sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand when necessary. You will also scour pots and pans to ensure they are thoroughly cleaned and ready for the next use.

Food Preparation and Service

You will assist with various food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit. You will prepare, heat, and finish simple food items according to our recipes and standards. The role also involves packaging take-out food, portioning and wrapping foods, and serving customers at counters or buffet tables with a friendly and professional attitude.

Inventory and Supply Management

As part of your duties, you will replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas. You will stock refrigerators and salad bars to ensure we have adequate inventory during service hours. You will also keep records of the quantities of food used, helping us maintain efficient inventory control and minimize waste.

Kitchen Maintenance

Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment is essential. You will clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment. You will remove kitchen garbage and trash regularly, and sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to ensure a safe and hygienic workspace for all staff members.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will need to obtain and maintain the following certifications:

• Food Safety Certificate
• Safe Food Handling certificate
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
