ELM Alliance Ltd was formed by the GP Practices in 2017 and has approximately 200 people working for us and with us. We deliver NHS services to the patients of Redcar, Cleveland and Middlesbrough and are wholly owned by the local GP Practices. Our services include primary care general practice, services to care homes and community services such as dermatology. Job Summary
The post holder will need to be flexible to work at any of our clinical hubs which are based at: Redcar, Middlesbrough, Brotton and Guisborough. As a receptionist, you will work in close partnership with the other key members of the Service, ELM Alliance Management Team and external organisations to deliver the Service in a safe and timely manner. The Extended Access Service represents a major development towards integrated primary care with 24/7 access. The aim of the Service is to provide a high quality, integrated and innovative primary care service, outside current core hours of care and led by General Practices.
Location Details
This position involves working at multiple clinical hubs across the Redcar and Cleveland area. The main locations include:
- Hirsel Medical Centre, 5 Trinity Mews, North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, TS3 6AL
- Redcar Primary Care Hospital, West Dyke Road, Redcar, Cleveland, TS10 4NW
- The Garth Surgery, Rectory Lane, Guisborough, Cleveland, TS14 7DJ
- Brotton Surgery, Alford Road, Brotton, Saltburn-by-the-sea, Cleveland, TS12 2FF
- One Life, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, TS1 3QY
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a competitive hourly rate of £12.21 with enhancements at weekends. Benefits include a company pension and on-site parking at some locations. The salary is paid on a monthly basis through the NHS payroll system.
Working Pattern and Schedule
This is a permanent, part-time position with flexible working arrangements. The shifts which are subject to change and dependent upon where you would be required to work are: 18:00 – 21:30 Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 Saturdays. There may also be occasional daytime sessions available, as well as occasional Sundays and bank holidays. We require staff to be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
Main Job Responsibilities
As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the setting up/closing of the service including setting up clinical rooms
- Ensuring all clinical equipment trays are sufficiently stocked for the full shift
- Cleaning and checking of equipment and consultation room surfaces each shift
- Booking appointments and marking patients upon arrival
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Scanning documents
- Answering phones professionally
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients and healthcare providers
- Providing administrative support including filing, photocopying and scanning
- Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring stationery and other supplies
- Providing refreshments for staff and visitors as required
- Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy
Person Specification – Essential Experience
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Demonstrable previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role
- Experience using office equipment (phone systems, scanners, printers etc)
- Excellent customer service skills with a polite, professional manner
- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and information governance requirements
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
Person Specification – Desirable Qualifications
While not required, the following would be advantageous:
- Experience of working in primary care
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- SystmOne Experience
